Designing the Today at Apple Microsite

01 Brief

Today at Apple is Apple's global events program that offers free creative sessions, both in-store and online. As Apple launched its first flagship store in Istanbul, they approached our team at ATOLYE to design a bespoke six-week Today at Apple program to inspire people and promote products in innovative ways. Alongside, the team needed a website to drive engagement and serve as an archive for the event's memories.

02 The Challenge

The site needed to inform and engage people with the sessions, ensure easy access to event details and registration, while also serving as a lasting digital archive to preserve the program’s impact for future visitors.

03 The Process

We began by conducting user research to understand what would engage users and how they would want to interact with the site. We tested the early iterations and worked closely with the Apple team to ensure the design system reflected the branding.

04 Solution

Modular System

We implemented a modular card format to display events, benchmarking the Today at Apple site to create familiarity with people. Also to ensure scalability and adaptability for various types of content.

Playfully Interact

We focused on integrating playful elements, like showcasing the outputs from participants in an animating exhibition area.

Interactive Display

We wanted to leverage the web’s interactivity for an intentional reveal of information to create a good balance of content digestability.

Tap to Discover

We ensured a smooth across the device experience, given the high volume of users visiting the microsite on their phones and tablets.

06 Impact

The microsite became a key tool for driving awareness and participation in Apple’s creative sessions. Since its launch, the site has attracted over 100.000+ of users.

07 Reflections

Talking with people to understand their expectations, needs, and hopes for the event was a rewarding experience. This project also helped me learn valuable insights into Apple's design philosophy and gave me the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team from both Apple and our team at ATOLYE.
